Switching is free, and easier than you think.
You can choose to change your plan manager at any time. Plan management is funded separately from your supports when it is included in your NDIS plan, so changing plan managers does not use your support budget.
The good news
- No separate Planique switching fee. Planique does not charge a setup fee, exit fee or separate out-of-pocket service fee.
- You can do it any time. No need to wait for your next plan.
- Support through the handover. We work with you, your providers and your current plan manager to reduce disruption during the handover. Timing for outstanding invoices and service connections can depend on the information available and NDIS processes.
- We help coordinate the change. With your consent, we can work with you, your providers and the outgoing plan manager through the handover.
Three simple steps
1. Say hello
Get in touch and let us know you’d like to move to Planique.
2. We set you up
We gather your details and get your account ready.
3. We handle the handover
With your consent, we can coordinate with your current plan manager and support you through the relevant NDIS steps.
First, the things people worry about
“Do I need permission?” You choose your plan manager. We can explain the process and support you to complete the required NDIS and service-connection steps.
“Do I have to wait for my plan review?” No. Any time.
“Will Planique charge me to switch?” No. If plan management is included in your NDIS plan, the plan includes funding for this service. Planique does not charge a setup fee, exit fee or separate out-of-pocket service fee.
“Will my providers stop being paid?” We will work with you and your providers to reduce disruption. Some invoices or service connections may take time to move across, so we will explain what is happening and what you need to do.
“Do I have to tell my current plan manager?” Yes. You should let them know you are changing. We can help you with the communication if you want us to.
“Am I locked into a contract?” Some plan managers ask you to sign a service agreement with a notice period. Check yours. Even where one exists, it’s a notice period, not a life sentence, and we’ll work to it.
What happens to invoices in the middle
The honest answer: this is the only fiddly part, and it’s ours to manage.
After the NDIS records the change, claims submitted by the previous plan manager may be rejected. The previous plan manager should forward outstanding invoices to the new plan manager for processing. The new manager can submit eligible claims for supports delivered earlier in the same plan period.
Your funding remains in your NDIS plan rather than being held by the plan manager. We work with you, your providers and the outgoing plan manager to reduce disruption. Timing depends on the service agreement, the information available and NDIS processing.
When is a good time to switch?
Any time works. That said:
- Start of a plan period is tidiest, because the cut-off is obvious.
- Before a plan reassessment is useful if you want a proper spending summary prepared — give us a few weeks.
- Immediately is the right answer if invoices aren’t being paid, you can’t get an answer, or you’ve been asked for money out of your own pocket. Don’t wait out a notice period on principle.
Reasons people move to us
We’re a small, Perth-based plan manager, so we won’t be the right fit for everyone. These are the reasons people give:
- Slow payments. Providers waiting weeks, or refusing plan-managed work. Our standard is 48 hours.
- Nobody answers. A national queue, an inbox with no reply, a different person each time.
- No visibility. Not knowing what’s left in a budget until it’s gone.
- Errors. Invoices paid that shouldn’t have been, at rates that were wrong, against the wrong category.
- Timezone. Head office on the east coast, and every call landing outside your day.
Switching questions
How long does the whole thing take? We aim to set up your Planique account within two business days after we have your consent and the information we need. The full handover timing can depend on the NDIS process and your current plan manager’s arrangements.
Can I switch more than once? You can choose to change plan managers again. Check the notice requirements in your service agreement and complete the relevant NDIS steps.
Do I need to notify the NDIS? Yes. Notify the NDIS through your my NDIS contact, the National Contact Centre on 1800 800 110 or an NDIS service hub. We can support you through those steps.
Do I need to update my providers? Tell your providers where to send invoices and check whether any billing details need to be updated. Existing provider agreements generally remain between you and the provider.
Can my support coordinator help? Yes, with your consent. Refer a participant →
