NDIS plan management, explained clearly
A plan manager handles the financial administration for plan-managed funding. They process eligible claims, pay providers, keep records and report on spending while you remain responsible for choosing and managing your supports.
Three ways to manage NDIS funding
Different parts of a plan may use different management methods. The appropriate arrangement depends on the participant’s plan and circumstances.
Self-managed
You manage provider payments, claims and financial records yourself. This offers flexibility and also involves more administration.
Plan-managed
A registered plan manager handles claims, provider payments and financial records. You retain choice and responsibility for your supports.
NDIA-managed
The NDIA pays registered providers directly. The provider options and processes differ from self-managed and plan-managed funding.
The financial side of your plan
Invoices and claims
Receive provider invoices, check the required details and submit eligible claims through the applicable NDIS system.
Provider payments
Pay providers after the claim, authorisation and payment requirements have been met.
Records and statements
Keep financial records and provide regular statements about spending and remaining plan-managed funding.
Budget information
Help you understand available plan-managed funding and identify potential budget pressure.
How funding works
If plan management is included in your NDIS plan, the plan includes funding for this service. Planique does not charge participants a setup fee, exit fee or separate out-of-pocket service fee.
Switching plan managers
You need to tell your current manager, follow any service-agreement notice requirements and notify the NDIS. Planique can explain the steps and support the handover.
Choosing a plan manager
- Who will respond when I have a question?
- How are invoices checked before a claim is submitted?
- What is the processing target for compliant invoices?
- What information will appear in my monthly statement?
- How will I be told if spending is faster or slower than expected?
- How does the manager handle complaints and service transitions?
